“During the wedding planning process, we knew that one of the most important decisions that we could make was who was going to officiate our ceremony. Our goal was to find someone who could personalize our wedding ceremony to us, and that is exactly what Cathy did. She met with us and got to know us on a personal level and added so much to our memorable day. In our wedding ceremony, Cathy included anecdotes about our relationship and engagement and made us feel completely comfortable throughout the entire process. Our ceremony ended up being more than we could have ever envisioned, and we have Cathy to thank for that. We will be forever thankful that we decided to use Cathy Gordon as our wedding officiant – it was the best decision we could have made!” – Scott and Jennie
“Cathy was great to work with, both for our wedding and the naming ceremony of our first child. She is warm, funny, and a good listener and communicator. All of these skills helped her guide us through developing a fantastic wedding ceremony that was tailored to our specific religious (and non-religious) needs and was appropriate for our interfaith family. At our recommendation she has also performed the wedding and baby naming ceremonies for other members of our family. We hope she will continue officiating for our family events for many years to come!” – Leah
“Our son Jacob’s Bar Mitzvah was an amazing experience, in large part owed to our Cantor, Cathy Gordon. Upon meeting Cathy, we instantly identified with her down-to-earth values and sensibilities. Cathy had such excellent insight into our family and our children, finding instantly what’s good in them and what interests them most! She even included our 8 year old daughter, as well as Grandma Matty: they both designed a Torah Cover for the ceremony. Jacob’s Father is not Jewish, but the ceremony involved him and his relatives so they could be a part of this very special family event. Cathy conducted an excellent ceremony, well-paced, and punctuated by the upbeat songs, inviting people to sing along if even just with la, la, la, it was enjoyed by all. When it was over, there was definitely a sense of “can we have a bar mitzvah every year?” – Mark D
“More than 3 years after she married us, we were thrilled to have Cathy officiate the naming for our daughter, Charlotte. As soon as we found out we were expecting, we know we’d have Cathy there for the naming (even if it was a boy and there was a mohel too!). Cathy is such a warm, friendly presence (with a beautiful voice), and she worked closely with us to make the ceremony personal and help with the planning. She even helped us choose a Hebrew name for Charlotte after hearing our desires to honor Lauren’s late grandmother. She was welcoming with our entire family and led a ceremony that was so beautiful and moving–even our non-Jewish friends enjoyed it. We look forward to sharing many more special occasions with her!” — Lauren & Brian W.
“Cathy provided the most meaningful Bar Mitzvah we have ever experienced. From the initial meeting through the ceremony, she made certain that our son was well prepared and that he understood the meaning of all he was doing. Cathy’s beautiful voice and genuine warmth created a service that we and our friends and family will treasure forever. Our friends of other faiths were especially touched by her invitation to come to the bimah and view the open Torah scroll. With her words and music, Cathy turned a hotel room into a sanctuary as genuine as that of any synagogue. In the process, she reminded all of us that worship is about people, not place. Thank you, Cathy, for this great lesson and for a beautiful day!” –Alan & Robin A.
